TRANSUE, Jimmie W. "Top," 74, of Tampa, entered into rest September 11, 2007, at Sun City Center Hospice House, surrounded by his family. Born in Winter Haven, Fla., Top traveled all around the country before retiring as a sergeant major from the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and was a survivor of the battles of Hamburger Hill and Pork Chop Hill. He moved in 1973 to Tampa, where he joined the U.S. Marshal' s office, from which he retired after 35 years of service. Top also was an active supporter of The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and The Humane Society. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Natalie; four sons, Mike "Jimmie" and wife, Gennie, Mark and wife, Diane, Matt and wife, Kim, and Chris and wife Kristen; daughter, Cindy; 13 grandchildren, Scott, Eric, Boomer, Sarah, Joshua, Jeremy, Jessica, Alivia, Kimberly, Dustin, Ryan, Jimmie and Savannah; four great-grandchildren, Kacie, Dakota, Kayla and Kendal; two brothers, Doyce, and Roger and wife Jackie; two sisters, Lillian and Alzada; and loving doggies, Johnny, Rosie and Sally. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2007, at Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to LifePath Hospice or The Humane Society in Jimmie' s memory.
